Luxurious international-standard hotels
are set in landscaped gardens on the beaches of Tumon Bay, the island’s
premier resort destination. A few hotels are also located in the
southern and central parts of the island. A number of fine business
hotels and family style accommodations are located in Hagåtña,
Maite, Tamuning and Mangilao. As the island is small, most of these
properties are minutes away from the A.B. Won Pat Guam International
Air Terminal.
As in the rest of the U.S., tipping is an accepted
practice. Some hotels add a 10-15 percent service charge to the
restaurant bill, so additional tipping is optional. The standard
rate for restaurant service, taxi drivers, and hotel service personnel
is 10 to 15 percent. Guam hotel occupancy tax is 11 percent.
