Karl Anthony Pangelinan
General ManagerKarl Anthony Pangelinan is a native son of Guam and in January 2012, was unanimously appointed to serve as the General Manager for the Guam Visitors Bureau.
Karl graduated in 1992 from Guam’s Father Duenas Memorial School where he learned the values of dedication, commitment and leadership. These values have guided him in his professional career and as a husband to his wife Shana Guzman Pangelinan and father to his three children, Isabella, Adam and Kamia.
Karl attended the University of San Francisco immediately after graduating high school and later returned to Guam in 1994 where he completed and attained a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Guam.
Karl has over 15 years of experience in marketing and began his career as the Retail Territorial Manager of Mobil Oil Guam, Inc. During his time at Mobil, he successfully implemented an island-wide customer service program, which proved to be invaluable to the company. Shortly thereafter, Karl joined IT&E as its Sales Marketing Manager and assisted in implementing some of the latest technologies in communications that consumers and businesses have come to enjoy. He began his own company, Malafunkshun Productions, and produced a wide array of entertainment events and CD’s that are known throughout the island. He additionally worked as Director of Sales for GTA TeleGuam and NTT Docomo Pacific before beginning his service in the Government of Guam as the Administrator of the Guam Economic Development Authority in 2011.
As GEDA Administrator, he brought many years of private sector experience that enabled him to discharge his duties in an efficient and effective manner – to grow Guam’s economy and entice global companies to invest on Guam. As Administrator, he successfully began projects under the Hotel Occupancy Tax Bond, which funds different projects on island to benefit the Tourism Industry, Guam’s largest economic contributor. One of the projects under the HOT Bond is the long awaited and anticipated Guam Museum.
Karl believes that family is important and will take every opportunity to spend time with his. He is also an avid golfer and when given the opportunity, he will hit the green and relax through 18 holes.
Jon Nathan P. Denight
Deputy General ManagerA native of Guam, Jon Nathan Pangilinan Denight has more than 10 years of private-sector marketing experience managing large-scale marketing campaigns for clients including MCV, IT&E, and Pepsi, video production and event planning. He assumed the position as Deputy General Manager for Guam Visitors Bureau in July 2011.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Santa Clara University in California in June 1999, Denight returned to Guam to begin his career. He quickly worked his way up from Business Development Manager to Operations Manager at Mark’s Motor Corporation, before opening his own company, Revolution Productions, in 2004.
Revolution Productions found success in publications as well as development of TV commercials for Napa Auto Parts, Calvo's Insurance, Docomo Pacific, the Guam Ko’ko’ Road Race, the Guam Public Health Department, Taco Bell, Miller Lite, and the Guam Texas Hold ‘Em Championship.
In his first year at the helm of the Guam-based company, Denight was honored with awards for "Best Television Commercial of the Year" and "Overall Best Ad of the Year" from the Guam Marketing Association, where he eventually served as president in 2005.
In 2007, Denight accepted a position as Creative Director of Denight Marketing Group while continuing to manage his production company. Revolution Productions has since successfully launched Guam’s No.1-selling magazine, Uno, and developed the island’s first 30-minute auto enthusiast television video magazine, RevTV.
At Denight Marketing Group, Denight led creative development for some of Guam’s largest companies including Pepsi, Miller Lite, Nissan Guam, University of Guam, DFS Guam, and the Department of Homeland Security. A specialist in video production and event planning, he played an instrumental role in large-scale events including the Chef’s Cup, DFS DanceFest, Hot Import Nights, and several concerts.
Denight enjoys basketball, auto racing and cycling. He lives in Sinajana with his wife, Lana.
