Explore unique destinations with us this month.

Every Saturday, Guam Boonie Stompers offers public hikes to a variety of destinations such as beaches, snorkeling sites, waterfalls, mountains, caves, latte sites, and World War II sites. We meet at 9:00 AM in the Center Court of Chamorro Village in Hagatna. The cost is $2.00 for hikers over 12. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Hikers should provide their own transportation. Guam’s trails are not developed. Weather conditions can make the hikes more difficult than described. No reservations required.

Mount Santa Rosa

March 6

Mount Santa Rosa Cave
 
Difficulty Rating: Difficult
 
Duration: 4 hours for 0.5 mile
We explore a unique cave along the volcanic/limestone geological junction. Bring: 3 quarts water, hiking boots, gloves, long pants, insect repellent, lunch, camera, and flashlights. Special condition: Climbing in marrow cave passages with water.

Almagosa
 
Difficulty Rating: Medium
 
Duration: 4 hours for 1 mile
 
We explore a unique cave, waterfall, and Chamorro Village within Naval Magazine. Bring: 3 quarts water, hiking boots, gloves, swimsuit, insect repellant, sun screen, sunglasses, lunch, and camera. Special conditions: Advance registration and payment required on March 6 only and some restrictions may apply. Details to be announced later.

 
Mount schroeder

March 20

Mount Schroeder to Ija
 
Difficulty Rating: Very Difficult
 
Duration: 5 hours for 5.2 miles
 
We hike up and over Mount Schroeder and Mount Sasalajuan from Merizo to Inarajan. Bring: 4 quarts water, hiking boots, gloves, sun screen, insect repellant, lunch, and camera. Special conditions: Swordgrass, little shade, a lot of climbing, and a seriously long hike.


Hilian

March 27

Hilaan and Lost Pond
 
Difficulty Rating: Medium
 
Duration: 3 hours for 2.6 miles

We hike north from Tanguisson Beach to swim in Lost Pond and snorkel at Shark’s Hole of the water is calm. We will also clean up the beach. Bring: 2 quarts water, hiking boots, swim suit, snorkel gear, gloves, sun screen, sunglasses, insect repellent, lunch, and camera. Special conditions: Hiking over some rough rocks and in the water.

Stomp tips: Alcohol and hiking do not mix.

Do not bring beverages with caffeine on hikes.

Always bring plenty of water on a hike.
